Austin and Eliza Kilbourn papers, 1818-1851.

The letter book contains copies of letters, both personal and business, written by Austin Kilbourn or for Kilbourn & Co., a hardware company in Hartford, Connecticut. Also two loose letters written by Kilbourn to Samuel Whiting, 1836, and his nephew, 1851. Eliza's papers consist of essays written while she was a student at Miss Pierce's school in Litchfield, Connecticut, several letters and a number of undated notes on scraps of paper, penmanship examples, and a fragment of a drawing that may have been a design for needlework. Eliza and Austin were the children of Joseph and Hannah Kilbourn of Glastonbury, Connecticut.
